Century Arms was founded by John Saunders over 35 years ago after having worked as a Gun Dealer for several years before that with a business from home, these were the times when it was still possible to find lots of early firearms from Australias early colonial past, such as Muzzleloading rifles, early Colt revolvers and guns from the Gold Rush days, following that came the Martini Henry's and an aboundant variety of Winchester repeaters of all calibres, this prompted the founding of a Gun Shop on the Main Street, which finally evolved into buying & selling all kinds of sporting & collectible guns.
The urge came very early to get into Gunmaking and a large number of various sporting riifles were produced, stocked & engraved and finished in all accepted forms with strong leanings to the high quality British sporting rifles, .
A great insight into sporting firearms of all kinds was gained by very many purchasing missions to the former British India, where the most desirable of all were the fine Double barreled rifles made for the various State Rulers of that Country, These times have now virtually past but we still venture into making a few sporting rifles of that influence, the last well known rifles made by the Company were a number of Farquharson Falling block rifles, and a few 4 bores British style rifles, and numerous classical English style magazaine rifles.
